9th July, 2010
According to statistics, this has been the hottest summer since 1929, and Friday 9th July, was certainly one of the hottest days. In the sweltering heat a number of Haddon Training Learners, their friends and families enjoyed an informative CIC*** Course Walk with Darrell Scaiffe, the well respected Eventer, and an entertaining and educational Stable Tour with Bryan Elliot the Horse Trials Stable Manager, followed by lunch in the Barbury Club and Members Pavilion. However the main reason for the day was a presentation of awards to 10 Haddon Training learners.
Haddon Training been taking a stand at the trials for six years now and we have enjoyed watching international riders compete the varied challenging courses in the natural amphitheatre at Barbury which offers some of the best going and best spectator viewing in the world.
Uniquely, Barbury is laid out so that the whole event can be seen from the areas around the main arena. The CIC*** Dressage and Showjumping take place in the main arena while the Cross Country winds its way across the hillside above and finishes back in the main arena. In past years we have invited learners, locations and friends to join us on our stand to watch the event unfold with a glass of wine or two. This year we decided to use this prestigious platform to celebrate learner success.
Nominations for the awards were taken from the team of Haddon Training Horse Care and Animal Care Assessors and Internal Verifiers. The nominees were chosen from all areas of the Haddon Training qualification spectrum - NVQs and Apprenticeships, Outreach Qualifications (encompassing Transport Tests, BHS Exams, and Equine Tourism Qualifications), and Technical Certificates. The final 11 nominees to receive their awards, recognising them as outstanding achievers were as follows:
