Level 3 Additional Pathways

 

Contribute to the Management of Stallions Under Supervision

This pathway, available at L3, involves using a stallion for teasing and covering and caring for the stallion on a day to day basis.

It will involve:

•handling the stallion for teasing, covering and presentation to clients under supervision
•presenting the stallion to the mare for covering, reporting any problems and presenting stallions to clients for inspection
•feeding, exercising and caring for a stallion on a day to day basis
•establishing and maintaining an exercise programme, specifying and implementing dietary requirements, identifying health problems and taking the appropriate remedial action.


Maintain and Repair Structures and Surfaces

This pathway, available at L3 describes the standards expected of those whose role is to maintain and repair structures and surfaces on land-based sites.

It is specifically designed for those who work in the land-based industries and for whom the maintenance and repair of surfaces is one small supporting part of their overall work role. The maintenance and repair of structures and surfaces may be routine and scheduled, preventative or for full or part replacement, and be undertaken for safety, to maintain the effectiveness of the structure, or increase/maintain its left span.

Prepare and Maintain Horses on Grazing Land

This pathway, available at L3 is about checking land for its suitability for grazing horses, and the routine care of grazing horses.

It will involve:

•checking land for its suitability for grazing horses. This includes recognising and removing hazards, providing a suitable supply of water, checking boundaries and the quality of grazing.
•turning out horses to grass and the routine checking of the horses and the land
