Who will be involved in my NVQ ?

Your learning and assessment is going to be carried out at a location which has been approved by Haddon Training and this will be your place of work, the people involved are:
The Learner. That's you! You are the most important person of all, because without you these training programmes would not exist. The majority of your time will be working "on the job" learning practical skills in your chosen area of work. Additionally some of your time will be taken up with showing what you have learnt. This is important for you and for your current or future employers. This involves:

•working out and agreeing an assessment programme with your Assessor;

•working out a personal action plan with dates for assessment and review;

•collecting evidence that proves your competence in your job;

•organising that evidence and presenting it in a portfolio form;

•comparing what you have produced with standards set and with your trainer to assess

 whether it is adequate to present;

•presenting this portfolio and discussing your achievements with your assessor;

Do not worry! You will get help, support and guidance throughout your training.

The Assessor. Your Assessor will have experience in your area of work - they could be your boss or another senior experienced employee, but they are most likely to be a visiting Haddon Training Assessor. They will be fully qualified and "industry competent", with Assessor training so that they are able to understand and help you achieve what you are trying to do. They plan and organise your training programme with you and they will judge when you are ready to present your evidence and prove your competence. Your Assessor is a very important part of your training.

The Internal Verifier has a misleading title as they will probably not work at the same place as you. This Verifier will make visits to observe and to examine portfolios and paperwork systems; records and procedures. They will also make regular reports to Haddon Training to make sure that the assessment and verification systems are working properly.

The External Verifier is appointed by the Awarding Body to ensure that all the assessment and internal verification undertaken at your location are valid, authentic, current, sufficient, and to the approved national standard. It is their job to make sure that the quality of assessment is maintained, and to double check that you are getting the best possible help, training and advice.
