Steph Hobbs works at Parkers Pets Limited in Southsea. She is part way through her Haddon Training Animal Care Level 2 Apprenticeship. We spoke to Steph about her apprenticeship and how she has been finding it so far…

What attracted you to an apprenticeship in Animal Care?
I picked an animal care course because I’ve always been interested in animals and really want to work in Hydrotherapy in the future. I saw the job advertised on Indeed and applied.

Can you tell us more about your role?
I help look after the dogs in the day care centre, I love all the different types and breeds we get to look after.

How have you found the structure of the apprenticeship?
I really like the way the course is structured – I’m getting on well and I am all up to date. Haddon Training have been really supportive and helpful throughout my course.

What would you like to do after your apprenticeship?
When I finish my course at the end of the summer I am hoping to continue working here and eventually do a hydrotherapy course and work in that area.

What advice do you have for anyone considering an apprenticeship?
My advice to anyone looking to do an apprenticeship is to just go for it – if you enjoy something then do it!
