Sending a huge well done to Harriet Dickin, who recently completed her level 3 Senior Racing Groom apprenticeship with a distinction!

We spoke to Harriet about how she found her apprenticeship and what she hopes to do next.

“I am a twenty-five-year-old event rider and Assistant Trainer to my father Robin Dickin. I have worked with horses my whole life and did in fact do a year at University in Cirencester, but it wasn’t for me. I decided to come back to running my eventing business, Hill Farm Eventing, alongside working with my dad and helping to train the racehorses.

I chose Haddon Training to complete an apprenticeship because it enabled me to study whilst working and not have to take time away from work to complete it. The support I have received through Haddon Training whilst on this programme has been so great! My Trainer-Coach was brilliant at helping me to get my portfolio of evidence together too and helped ensure that I submitted all my work on time.

I found that the apprenticeship worked well for me, and all the advice and support was easily accessible for any parts that I found hard. I was allowed extra time at work to complete all my work to a high standard and I got to gallop and school lovely horses as well!

I am delighted to have completed it and am now focusing on completing my racehorse trainer modules, with a view to taking my licence out soon and having a yard of my own. I also want to continue to pursue my eventing career and hopefully ride at Badminton one day soon!”

Congratulations from all the team here to Harriet on her fantastic apprenticeship result and we can’t wait to watch her future success!
