Building Careers in Horse Racing: Louise’s Business Admin Story

We recently spoke with Louise, who is completing her Level 3 Business Administrator within Racing apprenticeship with Haddon Training at Arena Racing Company (ARC). Louise shared how the qualification has helped her build confidence, take on leadership opportunities, and gain valuable industry experience within one of the UK’s leading racing organisations.

Why did you choose the Level 3 Business Administration qualification?

I chose this qualification because I wanted to build a strong foundation of transferable skills that I could use in any business environment. It’s given me the chance to grow in confidence, progress my career, and gain a recognised qualification while applying everything I learn directly to my role as a Business Coordinator.

What have you enjoyed the most?

I have really enjoyed working at Arena Racing Company (ARC), where I’ve grown so much during my apprenticeship. The support from my team and my training coach has been amazing, and I’ve learnt so much about the media side of the business – from seeing how racing is filmed in the gallery to understanding the equipment used. Being part of ARC has made me feel included, supported, and excited about my future career.

What achievement are you most proud of?

My proudest achievement so far has been taking a leading role in moving our TRP (The Racing Partnership) department. This project gave me the opportunity to step into a leadership role for the first time, while using the skills I’ve developed through my apprenticeship. It’s built my confidence, helped me take on responsibility, and shown me how I can apply what I’ve learnt to deliver real results.

What has your experience been like as an apprentice with Haddon Training?

My experience with Haddon Training has been fantastic. They’ve supported me every step of the way, helping me build skills that I’ll carry into the future. I’d especially like to thank my training coach, Jo, who has been there since the very beginning. She’s given me confidence, shared real-life examples that make my learning practical and relatable, and always believed in me. I’m so grateful for everything she’s done to help me succeed.

What are your aspirations for the future?

My aspiration for the future is to continue developing in the world of media, taking on more leadership roles in the growth and development of media at Arena Racing Company. I also want to expand my knowledge of TV production, gaining a deeper understanding of how live broadcasts are created and delivered. Ultimately, I aspire to build a career where I can combine the skills I’ve gained through my apprenticeship with new opportunities in media and production.
