Start Your Dream Career Straight from School or College!

If you’re passionate about animals, an apprenticeship in animal care may be your gateway to an exciting and rewarding career!

As a school or college leaver, you might be feeling the pressure of deciding your next steps. It’s a big decision, and there are a variety of options available to you. While university may seem like the obvious choice for some, there is an alternative route that many young people are choosing today – apprenticeships!

Apprenticeships combine practical, hands-on experience with academic learning, allowing you to earn while you learn. They provide an excellent way to kickstart your career in a way that suits your individual learning style and career goals.

Take it from Jessica, who’s currently completing her Level 3 Keeper and Aquarist apprenticeship at Wingham Wildlife Park. She shared:

“The Level 3 Keeper and Aquarist apprenticeship has enabled me to start my dream career in a way that means I can do the practical work alongside getting my qualification. It has been an amazing opportunity, and I am grateful for all the support I have received throughout!”

Through her apprenticeship, Jessica has been able to work hands-on with a wide variety of species, learning essential day-to-day husbandry and welfare practices. From feeding routines to enclosure maintenance and animal enrichment – every day offers new experiences and opportunities to grow her knowledge.

Jessica has been supported every step of the way by the incredible staff at Wingham Wildlife Park and her dedicated Haddon Training Trainer Coach, Grace, who are always on hand to provide guidance and mentorship whenever she needs it.
