Learning and Skills Mentor

The Learning and Skills Mentor apprenticeship is designed to train individuals in providing guidance and support to others who are learning new skills and knowledge. Participants will learn how to assist individuals in reaching their full potential at work, combining learning with hands-on experience to develop communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills. Apprentices will work alongside experienced colleagues to gain practical knowledge on how to support others academically, socially, and emotionally.

What to expect taking a Learning and Skills Mentor qualification

Participants will work closely with others, sharing their knowledge and providing support in their area of expertise. They will have sector-specific experience and qualifications, as determined by their employer or professional body, which they’ll use to guide those who are less experienced and new to a work role. They’ll design effective learning experiences and work closely with colleagues to help learners achieve their goals, ultimately benefiting the business.

What will be learnt during the Learning and Skills Mentor qualification

A range of skills, knowledge and behaviours will be developed, including advising, guiding and supervising learners to acquire the most benefit from their learning programme. Participants will learn to communicate and collaborate effectively, using questioning, listening and assertiveness skills. They’ll also work closely with colleagues and their Trainer Coach to assess learners’ progress and collaborate with the wider team to track and showcase progress and achievements.

A Learning and Skills Mentor will inspire motivation, ambition, and a love for learning while always upholding ethical and legal standards, specifically within professional boundaries. What happens after completing the Learning and Skills Mentor apprenticeship?

After completing this qualification, participants will be ‘dual professionals,’ equipped with both expertise in a specific field and broader skills to support learners. How long does it take to complete a Learning and Skills Mentor apprenticeship?

Our Level 4 Learning and Skills Mentor apprenticeship will typically take between 13 and 18 months to complete.

This qualification is a full-time, work-based programme, allowing you to learn while on the job and earn a salary. Through this approach, you will acquire skills tailored to match your particular job requirements.

How much does a Learning and Skills Mentor qualification cost?

Apprentices do not have to pay for their qualification. Learners are paid a wage and are entitled to other staff benefits including a contract of employment and holiday allowance.

There may be a small cost for employers taking on an apprentice, dependent on the learners age, however the majority of funding comes from the Government, and in some cases there are also employer incentives available.
