Good Employment Week: Currypool Equestrian

It’s Good Employment Week! Throughout the week, we’re celebrating employers who go above and beyond to build supportive workplaces that prioritise their team’s development and wellbeing. Today, we’re turning the spotlight on Currypool Equestrian, a business committed to nurturing talent and fostering positive wellbeing through exemplary employment practices.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself, your history in the industry and your business?

I’m Elaine, the owner of Currypool Equestrian, a BHS Approved Equestrian Centre. With years of experience in the equestrian industry, our centre is dedicated to offering high-quality riding lessons, Changing Lives Through Horses, and equine care. We aim to create a supportive and educational environment for both clients and horses.

When did you first start hiring apprentices, and what motivated you to take this step?

We began hiring apprentices in 2016 as part of our commitment to nurturing future talent in the equestrian field. Our motivation was to provide hands-on learning opportunities and support the professional growth of young enthusiasts.

What benefits have you seen in your business from having apprentices on your team?

Apprentices have brought fresh perspectives, enthusiasm, and dedication. They contribute to our operations significantly and help us maintain high standards of care and service. Additionally, seeing their growth and development is incredibly rewarding.

What advice would you give to an employer who is thinking about hiring an apprentice?

Ensure you provide a structured and supportive learning environment. Be patient and invested in their development, as the long-term benefits are well worth the initial effort.
