Molly is currently completing her Level 3 Senior Equine Groom apprenticeship at Gemma Stevens Eventing, where she is gaining hands-on experience in a high-performance equestrian environment. From growing up around horses to developing her skills in the industry, Molly is building a career she is truly passionate about.
What inspired you to pursue a career with horses?
I come from a family who has horses, so I’ve always been very involved with them from a young age. I never originally saw myself working full-time with horses, but an opportunity came up that I couldn’t turn down!
What have you enjoyed most about your apprenticeship and your work placement?
There have been so many positives, but I love going out in the lorry to shows and arena hires and helping to warm up the horses. I love riding all the horses and getting to know each of them individually.
Have you faced or overcome any challenges during your apprenticeship? If so, how did you manage them?
Working with horses was never going to be easy, but my boss and all the other staff are very helpful and supportive when I need it. If I come across any issues, I know someone will always be around to help me.
How has your experience been as an apprentice with Haddon Training?
My experience with Haddon has been really positive! I’m constantly learning new skills, and I know that my Training Coach is always around if I need help with any of my work.
What are your goals for the future?
My long-term goal is to bring on young horses and to compete them. To be able to work closely with a horse and watch as they go up the levels with you is something I find truly rewarding.
